Summercamps at Vassor Lägergård
For three years now I've produced the event booklet and matching posters for Vassor summercamp. Here's a comparison of the styles from year to year. Presented in this article are the booklets, unfolded
First version, 2007
The first booklet was planned in a manner that it could be read from both sides. The youth camps from one side, and the children camps from the other. Even though this was an interesting idea, the next version was all from one direction.
Second version, 2008
The customer liked the first vesion, so we carried on with the same concept – except for the double reading directions.
The picture of Jonathan that decorates the front page was de-posterized to give a softer impression. The stencil-styled representation of the main building at camp is still there, as well as the diving tower from Finnholmen, where the campers go to cool off.
Third version, 2009
The same concept goes on for another year. This time Jonathan is moved to the center of the frontpage. Maybe because they took the diving tower down early 2009 and I had to take it out of the composition? ;)
Jokes aside, his face looks great a bit off-centre on the front of the booklet, and the empty space on the back gets better balanced when his hair flows over from the front.
Fourth version, 2010
The customer was happy with the previous design, so I gave it a small remake: The blue stencil elements are now gone, and the ground is lowered to increase the feel of space in the design. The sky and grass is given textures, and Jonathan in the front gets strokes of both highlight and shadow.
